U.S. Pertroleum Refineries (And Crude Oil Pipelines)

This map shows the location of petroleum refineries in the United States and the crude oil pipelines supplying feedstock to these refineries. The refineries are displayed by graduated size based on atmospheric distillation. Atmospheric distillation is typically representative of the capacity of the refinery and is measured in thousands of barrels per day processed using 2020 data. The inspiration for this map came from investing in refinery stocks and wanting a visualization of the location of refineries in the U.S.. From here, the symbology could be changed to categorized by corporate ownership to show which refineries share common ownership.
